A large crowd of merchants and citizens of Bastrop County attended the October Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The Bastrop County Veteran Color Guard presented the colors.

Chief David Canales, NJROTC Instructor spoke about the role of the NJROTC (Navy Jr ROTC). They are consistently ranked as one of the best in the country. Chief Canales instills discipline in the cadets and prepares them for life.

Jayson Swetnam, Bastrop County Veteran Services Officer spoke about services available through his office to assist veterans in navigating through the paperwork for filing for their benefits.

Michael McCaul, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 10th Congressional District spoke about the veteran’s role in protecting free speech and our way of life.
