State police have sent an initial report to prosecutors on the Uvalde school shooting, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. However, the report has not yet been made public, and the Uvalde district attorney said she does not expect a full report for at least a few more months.

Four Texas Republicans in Congress are set to chair at least four committees in the new U.S. House. The Texans — U.S. Reps. Kay Granger of Fort Worth, Jodey Arrington of Lubbock, Michael McCaul of Austin and Roger Williams of Austin — were selected to lead influential panels such as the appropriations and budget committees.

U.S. Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Sherman, filed articles of impeachment against U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Fallon accuses Mayorkas of not maintaining control over the U.S. border and cites his attempt to end the pandemic-era rule Title 42.

A white male student who was rejected by six Texas medical schools filed a lawsuit accusing them of illegally considering race and sex during admissions. The plaintiff is represented by a group created by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller.

Texas executed Robert Fratta on Tuesday for the death of his estranged wife after a day of back-and-forth court decisions. A Travis County judge barred prison officials from conducting executions with expired drugs hours before Texas planned to execute Fratta. The state’s routine of using expired drugs is tied to fewer pharmacies being willing to supply drugs for executions.
